Combines hard work with effective skills

Have only been using this review book for a few days, but so far I like it. My four star review will be edited once I finish, but this review guide is inclusive to all levels of students. The author provides good resources and doesn't tell you there is only one way to get your optimal score. It includes vocabulary lists to study, common prefixes, and double meaning words to focus on for students that aren't as well read. She breaks the questions down with great explanations, which is a nice. Also, the strategie for attacking each question varies slightly, so the author teaches the test taker how to apply there test taking skills with their previously acquired knowledge. I will report how my critical reading score improves, but I feel like I'm learning a lot. Some books can be overwhelming, but this book can be taken on with hard work and focus. I like how the author doesn't claim if you read her review book your guaranteed a great score like some others, instead she tells you how to effectively work hard to get the score your aiming for. So far so good.

SAT CR 680 in January, 690 in March - something was going consistently wrong with the CR techniques when other two scores were 800 or near 800. Read good reviews of this book then bought this book for May testing, three weeks prior to test date - bingo! Score jumped to desired 750. Do I say more? Thank you Erica; our son made into great BS/MD program.

Amazing improvement after studying this book!!!

When my son was a sophomore, his score on the reading section of the PSAT was at the 92nd percentile. I read the reviews of this book and thought it would help him. After he studied the book, I could tell from the practice tests he took that he was really improving! We just got back his PSAT score for this year and he is in the 99th percentile! He only missed 1 out of 47 questions!!! Thank you!!

Frida in Miniature

Lovely little book. I have read Hayden Herrera's biography of Frida Kahlo (the best) and also have 'Self Portrait in a Velvet Dress'. I purchased this small but mighty book based on the illustrations alone (I am a graphic artist) - though found it a pretty concise biography as well. Frida-philes will be happy to add this to their collection.

I've become leery of Art Of books, because a lot of them are more in-game screenshots than good, clear images of the characters, vehicles, and equipment. This one offers some great design imagery. I also really like getting a chance to see behind-the-scenes photos of the unpainted physical maquettes that were built.

Wilbur Smith strikes again! His writing keeps you anxious to move forward to the next book. Been hooked on his novels since the late 70s while living in South Africa - brings back so many vivid memories of Cape Town, Table Mountain and the beautiful wine country

About the Author

DR. BRIAN & CANDICE SIMMONS with their three children spent nearly eight years in the tropical rain forest of the Darien Province of Panama where Brian served as a church planter, translator, and consultant. Brian was involved in the Paya-Kuna New Testament translation project and studied linguistics and Bible translation principles with New Tribes Mission. He is now the lead translator for The Passion Translation. Both Brian and Candice travel full time speaking, teaching, and helping churches and leaders grow in Christ. They make their home in Wichita, Kansas.

For those burned-out by religion and searching for a deeper relationship with God

If I were to choose 5 books that have truly changed my life and my walk with God, this book would be number ONE on my list. It is hope-giving revelation for a generation of Christians who are searching for an authentic relationship with God, not just an organized religion. The Sacred Journey shares the story of the shepherd girl in the Song of Songs who has lost her first love and become disillusioned with the work of her calling, as many Christians today become lost in the machinery of the church. Brian and Candice Simmons share the power of the transforming love of God through the tale of a nobody who captures the heart of a king and a king who LOVES her into her destiny. Words spoken in love transform a broken, burned-out girl into a queen who reigns with her King. This is a commentary on the Song of Songs as a divine allegory for the Bride of Christ, rather than a marriage manual for newlyweds. This book can restore the passion of first love to a mature Christian and help those new to the faith follow a path into deep relationship with God. If you buy one book this year, let it be this one. My life has been transformed by this story and I would wish the same for you as well.

Beautiful revelation

This book takes one on a journey into deeper revelation of the intent of Jesus' heart for His people. One paragraph can be weighty and worth the time to pause and let the truth of Father's heart through His Son sink deeper inside the soul. The writings are a treasure to this God chaser who forgot she was being pursued all the time.

The most amazing book demonstrating God's love for you in such an intimate, personal way by looking in-depth at the Song of Solomon. Beautifully written, hard to imagine that kind of love! Definitely a book to re-read and think on over and over, soaking in His love until it moves from head knowledge to heart!

About the Author
Danny Leiwy teaches at the London School of Economics and Political Science, on the University of London's International Programme and City University, London. He is a Senior Teaching Fellow at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Danny is currently in practice as a Chartered Accountant. He was a Principal Lecturer in Accounting and Tax at the University of Westminster for 30 years, teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Robert Perks formerly taught Accounting and Finance at the International Business School on the Isle of Man. Robert also held chairs at the following universities: Queen's University, Belfast, Middlesex University, Aberdeen University, Birkbeck College University of London and University of Westminster.

Far too many typos will make you spend extra time figuring out what's wrong

The book is well-structured and I think does a fairly good job explaining concepts of accounting.
Yet the problem is that in several places there are typos made in actual figures which gives you a different answer when you do an exercise. This can be pretty annoying and takes extra time. At least in 2 places the explanation was apparently copy-pasted from the previous edition because the diagrams they were explaining, were completely different.

I also wish they would include answers to all questions/exercises, not just self-assessment.

Book is great however, just have a couple of issues

Book is great however, just have a couple of issues:

1) I am using this book in conjunction with a course I am doing at university. In the university subject guide it refers to page numbers in the book. I cannot seem to get page numbers reading the book on my Mac which is very frustrating.

2) There doesn't seem to be any solutions to the end of chapter questions so I cannot check my answers nor seek a solution for guidance when I have no idea what the answer is.

Other than that, e-books are the greatest!
