About the Author

Sanjay Govindjee is a Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley (1993-2006, 2008-present). His main interests are in theoretical and computational mechanics with an emphasis on micromechanics, shape memory alloys, and elastomers. Prior to joining Berkeley he worked as an engineer at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (1991-1993) in Livermore, California. He was also Professor of Mechanics (2006-2008) at ETH Zurich, Switzerland.

Noteworthy honours include a National Science Foundation Career Award, the inaugural 1998 Zienkiewicz Prize and Medal, an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Fellowship, a Berkeley Chancellor's Professorship 2006-2011, and a guest Professorship at ETH Zurich 2008-2013.

Great book on using liquid emulsions

I find this to be a very thorough book on using silver gelatin/liquid emulsions. It covers everything from coating papers, fabrics, or other materials for photo printing, as well as making glass negatives. There is also info on various toning methods, a troubleshooting section, and a formulary with recipes for everything from developers, fixers, stop baths, and toners. It also tells you how to make your own emulsions if you prefer that over buying ready-made emulsions.

There are also a lot of nice images of creative applications in the book to help inspire you.

About the Author
Kevin Bishop left England in 1983, after nine years in business management, to fulfil an ambition. He spent the next three years travelling through Africa, where he developed his keen interest in photography. Later, after employment in such diverse occupations as taxi driver and restaurant manager, he turned his attention to Asia. He has traveled extensively in China, and now resides in Hong Kong. He is the author of China's Imperial Way (Odyssey, 1997).

The information contained within this text is very accurate. For someone who has traveled to Xi'an and studied there, this is the first travel book, solely devoted to Xi'an, that I have found to offer a "complete" guide. Highly recommended.

One of the best Spiritual autobiography by my Gurudev Shri Shivkrupanand Swami. This book will take you in a complete different dimension of the Himalayas which is unknown to the people and world. In this book, Swamiji describes His spiritual journey as a child which led Him to the Himalayas and how He met his Guru - Dadagurudev Shiv Baba and other ageless yogis in the deep Himalayas. A recommended book for all the spiritual aspirants.

His owners, a vet, and two dog trainers are all incapable of stopping the pup's destructive behavior. Just when it looks as though the family will have to find a new home for their pet, he suddenly outgrows his nasty need to nibble. "He's not a puppy anymore," father proudly explains, while a 13-man construction crew works to repair the damaged house. Humorous colored-pencil cartoons reveal the devastation caused by the wee pooch and the family's reactions to the chaos left in his wake. Chewy Louie's exuberance is almost palpable and his teeth marks are everywhere. He's depicted as a small black dog with a pink tongue hanging out one end while his other end wags so vigorously that he appears to have multiple tails. Readers are left with the tiniest doubt about Louie's newfound maturity upon discovering that a corner of the last page has been chewed off. An entertaining tale about an all-too-common situation.

At first he is content to chew on his bowl and toys, but as he grows, he begins to take bites out of everything, including the family car and the house. The efforts of two trainers fail to change his ways; peace doesn't come to the family until Louie grows up. Schneider's bright, cartoonlike colored-pencil illustrations perfectly capture Louie's manic energy and the text's exaggerated humor, especially the bafflement of the book's narrator, the little boy in Louie's beleaguered family. very funny and adorable story

If you have ever owned a puppy that chewed you will love this adorable story. I got this book for my grandchildren who have two dogs and they loved it and wanted their Mom to read it over and over again. The story about the puppy who chewed everything is really funny and the pictures are adorable.

This book isn't my least favorite, nor my favorite. It's about a puppy that chews everything... he's a monster! But like all puppies, and all children, he grows up. It's a cute book, just not one that we reach for often.
